Hoping Hoping Hoping

...that my MIL and BIL make it in tomorrow. They both have scheduled flights tomorrow morning/afternoon. Do a plane dance!

Roomba...

Did I mention I got a Roomba for Christmas? It's being charged right now, I hope it works! Every time I talk about it though, I think of this SNL skit:

Change of plans?

We should be on our way to the airport right now, going to pick up my MIL and BIL. Instead, we're sitting here in the midst of yet ANOTHER snowstorm! I can't believe it. There is supposed to be a "lull" in the storm, and hopefully they can get in tomorrow before it picks up again. It looks like our trip to Florida is a wash. On a positive note, we hadn't bought football game tickets yet, and if we cancel our hotel room by tomorrow at 2 pm, we won't be charged. And we can get a refund for our plane tickets. So at least we won't be out any money! I'm disappointed, but am enjoying time at home with the family!

Wonderful Christmas!

As you can tell by my previous post, we had a white Christmas. It was wonderful. Little Man was a bit too young to totally get it, but he still enjoyed ripping through packages and playing with toys. My mom and brother came over and we had lots of yummy food, including a Honeybaked Ham! Hooray! It was just a wonderful, relaxing day with family and I feel so lucky! I got a lot of fun toys including: Roomba, a set of pots and pans, an under-cabinet cd player for the kitchen, a tasty blue puffy vest, and some new boots. Yahoo! Little Man got a wagon, and lots of clothes and toys. Hubby got a new phone, a video Ipod, and lots of work clothes. We are spoiled. And blessed!

Snowed in!

This past week has been insane. The snow started falling Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and kept snowing until Thursday night. We had at least two feet at our house. It was so windy that we had drifts of almost six feet! We weren't able to leave the house until Friday night, when we had to pick up my brother at the airport. The airport was closed for 2 days so he was real lucky to arrive with no problems. The REAL savior for us has been hubby's brother's car. Hubby's bro flew to Milwaukee for Christmas, and left his four wheel drive at our house. We luckily haven't had to go too many places, but that car was the only thing that has gotten us out of the neighborhood! Tonight they FINALLY started plowing around our area (you read correctly - today is TUESDAY and they are just plowing), but who knows if they'll actually hit our street. We are still awaiting UPS and FedEx packages we were supposed to get for Christmas. The worst part - it's supposed to snow again Thursday! My MIL is supposed to fly in Thursday, so hubby and I can spend New Year's in Florida and she will stay with Little Man. So do a "no snow" dance!!

I'm officially domesticated.

For Christmas, my in laws got me a set of Emeril pots and pans. And I was excited.

Holy crap, I must be old.

From Sun to Snow!

So last weekend we flew down to the Florida panhandle to have an early Christmas with hubby's dad's family. It was a lot of fun. They have a beautiful house and the weather was warm. It was also really neat to see Little Man interacting with his cousin who is 2 1/2. Little Man got SO jealous when Daddy played with Sara Beth. It was hilarious. He would either jump in Daddy's lap, or just start crying. I've never seen him react like that before. He was a trooper on all 4 of the plane rides, of course. He's such a sweet boy.
The weather there was crazy, it was upper 70's. So of course we fly home to temps in the teens. And then today - A BLIZZARD! It's been crazy. We've gotten probably 18 inches of snow, with blowing wind. Hubby stayed home from work, thank goodness. And I don't have to work tonight either which is good. I hope it slows down by Friday, my brother is flying in for Christmas that night!

Leaving on a jet plane!

Tomorrow, we're off to Florida! Every year, the weekend before Xmas we go down to FIL's house for Christmas with his side of the family. This year is no different. So we're flying tomorrow, have a layover in Memphis (mmmm - barbecue at Memphis airport ROCKS!). Should be fun. Little Man will get to party with aunts and uncles, cousins, grandpa, stepgrandma, and great grandma. Should be a good time! I'll update when we get back (late Monday night)

Ho ho ho!

Men will always be boys.

Why is that? If hubby found me playing with my Barbies, he'd probably try to get me professional help. But a buddy of his was here this weekend, and they played video games. A lot. It was funny. In this picture Little Man is trying to play too.

It was a fun weekend with our friend, but now it's Monday and this week is supah busy. I have to work tonight, Tuesday night, and Wednesday night. And then we leave on Thursday for Destin. We are having an early Christmas with hubby's dad's side of the family. We do it once a year the weekend before Christmas and it's always a great time! I did get my Christmas cards done yesterday, so that's good. My friend is an AMAZING photographer and helped me get pics of Little Man for the card, he doesn't keep still so my camera is useless in those situations! Check out her work HERE

Life happens...

...while you're waiting for the pizza to arrive.

I wanted to go to this tree lighting ceremony our neighborhood is having. But it ends in 30 minutes and I'm sitting here, waiting for the pizza we ordered FOREVER ago to get here. I'd go w/o eating but I'm STARVING. Bastards!

UPDATE: Got the pizza. Ice cold. Luckily, ice cold pizza is still good!

TGIF.

Ahhh, it's Friday. I survived this crazy week. Little Man's steri strips are all off of his head wound, and now it's just a scab. It doesn't look good, but not NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be, so I'm thanking my lucky stars. I have everything in for my MBA school application, after a bunch of phone calls and frantic emails to my alma mater trying to get a transcript. I finished Christmas shopping, cleaned the house, had our friend arrive from out of town, got Little Man's pics taken for Xmas cards, worked, and here I am. Ready to collapse. I am so thankful I don't have any plans this weekend. Well, we have our friend in town, but he usually hangs more with hubby than myself, and he's not someone I feel I have to be Miss Hostess for. Thank goodness.

Little Man's in bed, so it's time to grab a beer! Happy Friday!

Almost to Friday!

The week is still flying by. Tuesday night we went and saw Santa. Little Man was not a fan. So he was rewarded with his very first Happy Meal! He cared more about the toy than the food, he must not be my son! hee hee.

Now we're on clean-up alert. Our friend and Hubby's best man is coming to visit for the weekend, he'll be here tomorrow morning. I just need to clean up this house!! And I am ALMOST done with Christmas shopping. I need to buy 2 books at a bookstore, and a gift card to Best Buy and then I am DONE! Hallelujah!

I've made it this far...

...in the week and I'm not dead yet! That's a good thing. Boy am I pooped. This picture is Little Man on Sunday morning. Isn't he cute with his stitches? Unfortunately, they didn't stay in. When he got in his crib to take a nap, he had all stitches and a band-aid. When he woke up, only one stitch was left! I couldn't believe it. So back to Urgent Care we went. They kept saying over and over that they'd never seen a kid so young get his stitches out. And how did it not hurt when they came out? Anyhow, since it had been over 24 hours since the cut happened, they couldn't really do much for Little Man. They took out the 1 remaining stitch (it wasn't really holding anything), and put some steri strips on the cut.

He's gonna have a bigger scar than he would with stitches, but I'll do my best to take care of the wound to minimize the scarring. Wahh!!!

Fast forward to Monday. We got some things done around the house, then I worked in the evening. When I got home I got to start getting together my application for business school. I had to write 2 essays and update my resume. I finally finished and went to bed around 1:30! Needless to say, I am TIRED! But Little Man and I dropped my application off at FedEx Kinko's, to be overnighted. Finally out of my hands!

Tonight we're going to see Santa and do some Christmas shopping. The rest of the week is cleaning up the house - hubby's Best Man is coming to visit for the weekend. Hopefully I'll fit a nap in there somewhere!

Busting right open!

Little Man's head, that is. He cracked his head on the coffee table today. It was awful. Blood was everywhere. He had to get 5 stitches on his forehead. Poor Buddy!!! He was so cute running around the urgent care, happy as can be, like he didn't have a huge gash on his head.

When the time came to actually get the stitches, I was a wuss and had to wait outside of the room. I was just so upset I thought it would make it worse having him see Mommy upset. Anyhow, they put him in a little purple hospital gown with little animals on it. They even put Thomas the Tank Engine on the tv to try to distract him. Then they wrapped him up in this papoose-like thing, that made him unable to move his arms (to mess with the doc). Then they put in the stitches. That was the part I stepped out for, but I did hear my baby screaming bloody murder. Ugh.

Once he got home, had some food, and got to play, he was happy as can be. He is such a trooper. Mommy, not so much. It was horrible and I never want to go through that again. I have to clean the sutures twice a day until Thursday, when they'll be taken out. I am really fearful that he'll have a big scar or something. Poor baby!

I'll post pics tomorrow once I take the band-aid off. Wahhhh!

.......

As for the coffee table, we are getting rid of it.

This is what I hope will happen to that wretched thing:

Tell me I'm not crazy!

I am applying to grad school. Finally getting off my tush. Applying to get my MBA in Accounting/Finance. Wish me luck!!

I know there are lots of moms who juggle kids, working, AND going to school. I have to keep reminding myself of them!

Friends Friends & More Friends

Little Man has been overloaded with kids the last two days. Well, at least for him. As an only child, he doesn't get to hang out with other kiddos all that much. Anyways, yesterday one of my fantastic mommy friends stopped by with one of her kiddos. Little Man had SO MUCH fun chasing the 3-year-old girl around, trying to be a big kid. It was cute. That afternoon, he went to his best neighbor buddy's house to play when mommy went to work. He was so happy to be there, he wouldn't even kiss me good bye. I tried to pick him up, and he screamed thinking HE was leaving too.
Today his little girlfriend came over for a few hours, while her mommy went to work. He loved it, but I think she was a little overwhelmed! hee hee. He is now passed out in his crib.

I love watching him with other kids, and I wonder what kind of little person he will become. He is so happy, and outgoing, and friendly. Right now it's to the point that he is obnoxious to other kiddos, kind of getting in their face, etc. I am hoping that part is just his age, and will grow out of the toy-taking stuff. Fingers crossed!

Accomplishing things is good.

We put up the Christmas tree today! I also got more Christmas shopping done. I love putting the Xmas stuff up, it always makes the house seem so warm and fuzzy. Yahoo for the holidays. I don't usually do it this early, but we'll be so busy in the next month I wanted it out of the way! Just last year we were buying all the xmas stuff (tree, etc) since it was our first Christmas in the house. We never did much decorating in our apartment!

And there's still tomorrow!

Friday, November 24, 2006

Happy Lazy Friday!

I was going to have to work today, but all of my students wanted today off - fine by me! We've had a nice, relaxing day so far. Got out the Christmas stuff, will slooooowly start putting it up. I love days where we can all sit at home and hang out together!

Even though we have pounds of leftovers, I am craving Chipotle. I have a coupon, so maybe we'll have it for dinner anyway. Leftovers can wait!

Hope you had a great Turkey Day!

False Turkey Day Advertising.

Ok, when you tell me that you will prepare me a turkey with all the fixin's, so that I shell out money to you, it should be PREPARED. I was so annoyed when I went to King Soopers today to pick up our "prepared meal," and none of it was prepared. I had to cook the turkey for 3 hours, as well as cook everything else. The "meal" was a box of things I could have purchased at the store myself for half the price. If I'd have known, I'd have done that! Damn! Oh well.
Other than that PITA, Thanksgiving has been great. Little Man LOVED watching the parade while Grandma and I made rice krispy treats. Hubby and his brother happily watched football all day. We did a lot of relaxing, and eating.
Now I am debating whether or not to venture out to Black Friday. Hmmm. I want to go to Kohl's, so I'm going to try their online sale when it starts at 1 am EST (11 here). If I can't get what I want, I'll head out at 5 am. I need a deal damnit!

Happy Turkey Day!

Catch up time!

Sorry I've been MIA!

I've just been super busy. Let's see if I can catch up....

-The kitchen. MIL is here and has helped me really spruce it up. We painted, hung curtains and got a new chandelier. It is a completely different room and looks great! Now I have the bug and want to paint everywhere. Next project, hopefully my bedroom!
-Little Man was baptized today! Finally. His uncle was his godfather. I was so proud of him, he did great. He let me hold him and didn't cry during any of it - not even getting water poured on his little head. He was a rock star!
-Work is going great, but taking up a lot of time. I have 3 students now so I'm working about 10 hours a week. Plus the travel time. I am enjoying it though, it feels good to be impacting lives!
-I am thinking about going back to school. I'd like to do accounting. I have to figure out if we can afford it and if I have the time and energy to put into it, but that's my current, uh, "interest."

There you go! We've had lots of visitors these past few weeks too, so I am EXHAUSTED. This week is playing catch-up with housecleaning and all that jazz. For Turkey Day, my mom and Hubby's brother are coming over for a nice casual parade and football-filled day. And of course rice krispy treats! Yummy!

Partying with Papa Jim!

Little Man's grandpa, my dad, is coming to visit this weekend. The house is nice and clean for once. Little Man is all ready to show off some of his new skills since last time we saw PPJ. Should be fun!

We still have SO MUCH candy left over from Halloween. It's sick. I'm resorting to meals made entirely of Milky Way and Snickers. I would be happy to not see chocolate for a while. Ugh.

Oh check out this - it's tops on hubby's Christmas list. (he wants the kegorator version)

Boo at the zoo.

Today we took Little Man to Boo at the Zoo. He only lasted an hour. It was a lot of fun to see him in his costume though. Isn't he adorable? I love that kid. Anyhow, we braved the crowds and went to the zoo. It was neat seeing all the little ones in costume. He didn't care about the lines for candy, so we did fun stuff like the carousel. Then we came home and crashed, watched some football, and grilled out. Not a bad day!

Halloween candy REALLY is evil.

I bought some early so I wouldn't forget. Hubby opened one of the packages. I have eaten like half of it. So much for my diet!

There better not be any leftover candy on Tuesday night, or I'll be in trouble!

P.S. Buy me this for Christmas.

Update on snow.

So it didn't snow until I was home, thank goodness! But it was insane today, hubby didn't even go in to work.
AND, the garbage truck slid into our front yard! I took video of it in case we find that they screwed up our lawn.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Dear Mr. Blizzard,

Mike Nelson and the Channel 7 Weather Team inform me that you may be coming tonight. Do me a favor, wait until I get home from work. I'll have Little Man with me and neither of us feel like dealing with the highway during a blizzard.

After we're home, snow away! We won't have to leave the house again until Friday.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Random thoughts.

We are considering driving to WI for Thanksgiving. I don't really want to. With our luck it would be a blizzard.

I got to add a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans to my jean rotation. Yahoo! It's wierd, I'm only like 6 pounds away from the weight I was when I got married, but my mommy belly won't let me get anywhere near the clothes I would wear. Bastards.

My fat cat keeps eating my husband's shoelaces, then throwing them up on the bathroom floor. I think he's passive aggressive or something. I don't know what he's mad about though, he's a freaking CAT!

My son is FINALLY over being sick. And he gave my husband total attitude last night at dinner and wouldn't eat anything. My husband didn't know what to do b/c Little Man is usually such an angel for him.

Thursday, October 19, 2006

Sicky.

Isn't it funny how a sick kid will totally change your plans? Anyway, Little Man is sick today. Rosy cheeks, runny nose - even a bloody nose this morning. At least no fever. One of his little friends he played w/ last week has croup! EEEEEEK! Hopefully he doesn't get that. Anyway, we're just gonna hang out at home today since he's feeling icky.

Oh and that snow I talked about earlier? It's already melted.

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

Needle time!

I have to get a cavity filled this morning. I am not looking forward to it. I never got cavities when I was little, I've had 2 cavities - EVER. So imagine my surprise when I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and she said I had THREE. Ugh. That's what I get for not going to the dentist for two years. Oh well, at least now I have dental insurance.
And luckily Logan has an uncle that wants to come hang out with him for an hour! That is just so nice. They just seem to adore each other too, which is a bonus!

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

First snowfall!

Ahh, it's a nice cozy day today. It's snowing outside! So Little Man and I are huddled indoors for the day (I don't have to work, yahoo!) It's always so nice to have time to just relax in the house. I even made bread! And I'm making a real dinner, which is rare for me. I'm little Miss Homemaker today.

Monday, October 16, 2006

That fall off of the wagon hurt my butt.

Ok, I didn't really fall of the wagon, but I didn't lose weight this week. Maybe it's because I had pizza for at LEAST 4 meals this week, ate lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, and even had ice cream a bunch of times. Dummy. Oh well, I didn't gain any either. Here's to a new start this week.

More destination weddings.

Oh yeah, Melissa, another college roomie of mine, is ALSO getting married somewhere sunny. In Naples. Oy. It would be so awesome to go, but I am already having trouble finding the cash to fund me going to Mexico for Katie's wedding, I don't know if I can swing it! Wouldn't it be neat though? Apparently my friends are all fancy and are going all out for their weddings. I love it!

She is getting married HERE.

Gee whiz! P-I-M-P fo sho'.

Of course, most of my pictures from college are not on the computer, but above is a picture that has some of the girls (there were 7 of us). The one on the right is Katie who's getting married in Mexico, I'm second from right, to the left of me is Mel who's getting married in Naples, and on the left is Heather. She's my cute reporter buddy. I'm so proud of her!!! Read her bio HERE.

I burn easily.

In exactly one year I will be in the beautiful, sunny Mexican Riviera. Why you ask? Well, my cute friend Katie is getting married there, and I am the matron of honor! Woohoo! She lives in Milwaukee and I live in CO, which makes it hard to be a good and help fun MOH but I will do my best!!

Look at this awesome resort where she is getting married:
FANCYRESORT!

I am so excited. She has the cutest hubby-to-be too. It is always so neat to see someone truly happy and with someone that treats them well!! He rocks.

Moral of the story, I have one year to get skinny and tan.

Laziness = Sickness

Is laziness a disease? Seriously. If it is, I am really sick. It is sooo hard for me to accomplish anything - cleaning, organizing, whateva. It just builds up and stares me in the face reminding me that I'm lazy. I mean, I have lived in my house over a year and it really isn't decorated yet. Ugh.

I was gonna ask this before, but I was too lazy.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

I hate special reports.

All I want to do is watch The Price is Right while I clean the bathroom. Instead, it's the President blabbering on for an hour. Helloooo, can't you interrupt a less important show?? (wow, I need to get a life)

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Cupcake cakes.

Have you heard of these? I think we're gonna get one for our mini party on Friday. They take cupcakes and make them look like a cake. It's so neat! And you can just seperate the cupcakes instead of fooling with knives and all that. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of this? I'd be a millionaire.

Dude, this is actually a bunch of cupcakes! Now I'm hungry.

Big boy.

So my boy turned 1 on Sunday. He had a party, opened a bunch of presents, had enough cake to send him into a sugar coma. It was cute. I can't believe how fast he's grown. He's his own little person now, complete with a little mini attitude. Love it!

Sunday, October 08, 2006

Happy Birthday.

My baby boy is ONE today.

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Skinny soon?

Today for work I wore clothes I hadn't worn since before I was pregnant. I did a happy dance.

Sacreligious shirt of the day.

I'm sorry if this offends you! I love God, but I also have a sense of humor, and this made me giggle. A lot.

Kraft magazine.

Have you ever read this magazine?? If not, get it! It's free, and has some yummy EASY recipes to make it look like you can cook! So far we've had the fuss free Ravioli, and the one-pan chicken & potato bake. Yummmmm!

Did I mention

that my son is turning 1 this weekend? We have had a crazy week of growing up and it's making me crazy! He went cold turkey off of the bottle and formula. He did awesome. I am so proud of Little Man even though I want him to be a baby longer! We also started brushing his teeth this week, and he actually sits there and lets me do it. He must know he's turning 1 and it's time to act like mr. big boy or something.

I am so proud, but sad. It's very bittersweet and I'm taking it harder than I thought I would!

TV Determination

So last year hubby and I were a bit busy with the birth of our son, so we Tivo'd tons of shows. We had most of the season of Grey's Anatomy on Tivo. And then, one day, Tivo DIED. We lost all of the shows we'd recorded. It was so depressing.

Anyway, the second season of Grey's finally came out on dvd about two weeks ago. So we've been watching Grey's CONSTANTLY trying to catch up. And I'm happy to report last night we watched the season finale. Yep, we watched TWENTY-SEVEN episodes in less than two weeks. Maybe that's why we have no life. Have you ever been addicted to a show like that? I know lots of people that can watch a whole season of 24 in basically one sitting. And I guess I can watch Friends or Felicity constantly and not get sick of them.

Bring on this season! It will be so exciting to get to talk to people about what's happening on the show! And we're gonna try to keep up with shows we wanna watch, so we don't have a repeat of last year's fiasco.

WW Update!

I survived my first week of Weight Watchers. In fact, I lost 5 pounds! Hotness, here I come. I even got to have steak for dinner yesterday, right off the grill. It was sooo yummy.

I only hope to lose 20 pounds to get back to somewhat normalness, so 5 pounds is HUGE! Hooray for me.

Sunday, October 01, 2006

Will this make me a cook?

I can't cook. Really. I'm terrible. I live for the Hot Pocket. But for some reason I've been obsessing over kitchen gadgets. Maybe I think if I have fancy cooking gizmos I'll be able to cook.

Anyway, check THIS
out! Apparently you can do everything under the sun with it, including math problems. I'm so asking for one for Christmas.

Three-tv weekend.

There is something wonderful about the weekend. Hubby is here to help with Little Man, which allows me to be a LOT more lazy. It's fabulous.

Fall weekend means one thing to hubby though - FOOTBALL. The living room is crankin with THREE tvs - AT THE SAME TIME. No joke. Saturday is college football day, and Sunday is NFL. This way he can watch three games at once. Even with three tvs though, he usually needs to flip around or bring out the laptop to catch all the games. I wonder how many other guys do this? It's an obsession I guess. But hey, he could be out at the bar getting drunk leaving me home alone for the games, so I can't complain!
